A New Chapter Begins: Upper School Building Now Open

Ribbon Cutting

This past Monday, January 5, 2026, marked a significant milestone for First Baptist Lafayette and First Baptist Christian School as we officially opened the doors of our new Upper School building for use. What was once a vision has now become a vibrant, purpose-filled space that will serve students, families, our school and church for years to come.

We celebrated this moment with a Ribbon Cutting & Dedication Ceremony, gathering together to give thanks for God’s faithfulness and to acknowledge the many hands and hearts that helped bring this project to completion. During the dedication, we paused to pray over the building, asking the Lord to use every classroom, hallway, and gathering space to shape lives, strengthen faith, and point students toward real meaning found in Christ.

New Building Commons Area

This building carries a meaningful story. Formerly known as the Davidson Meaux Law Office, the property was reimagined and transformed as part of the Reach Forward Campaign. From the very beginning, this initiative was about more than bricks and mortar. It was about investing in the next generation and creating spaces where students can learn, grow, worship, and be discipled in an environment grounded in biblical truth. Through faithful prayer, sacrificial giving, and a shared commitment to God’s calling, this building has been given new life and a new purpose.

The excitement didn’t stop with the ribbon cutting. Just two days later, on Wednesday night, our Student Ministry gathered in the new building for their very first Midweek Worship service in the space. Seeing students gather for teaching, fellowship, and discipleship was a powerful reminder of why this project matters. This building is already being used exactly as it was intended—to glorify God and invest in students.

Student Ministry in New Building

We are deeply thankful for everyone who played a role in this journey: those who prayed faithfully, gave generously, planned diligently, and worked tirelessly to make this project possible. Your obedience and support have helped create a space that will impact lives far beyond what we can see today.

As we look ahead, we do so with great anticipation. This new Upper School building represents opportunity for deeper discipleship, stronger community, and continued ministry growth. We are excited about all that God will do in and through this space in the days to come, and we give Him all the glory for what has already been accomplished.

Truly, this is just the beginning.
